Patrick Kane, Chi- A skilled playmaking forward with great hockey sense… high-end passing skill with excellent use of the saucer pass to move the puck… able to fight through checks and protect the puck, which is a feat in itself because he's fairly small for NHL standards. He is also not afraid to take the puck into traffic and can be very elusive, also is very good at anticipating the play and has a good wrist shot.... As it stands, he leads his team in points so far this season. Kane seems like he has what it takes to be a great hockey player for years to come.
Scott Hartnell, Phi- This guy is leading his team in penalty minutes, only second on his team with game winning goals (4). Is tied for second on the team in plus/minus at +9...Is tied for third on team in power play goal with seven...Has recorded at least a point in each of the last six games (9G,4A - tied his career high for point-scoring)...Was named First Star at NY Islanders last night after recording three power play goals and an assist...Scored the game-winning goal vs. Florida on Wednesday...Was named NHL' s Third Star for the week ending Jan. 13 after registering eight points (5G,3A) in four games. and has done much more for his team this season.
Mark Recchi, Atl- Im fairly certain that when pittsburgh traded Mark Recchi , it really made him realize that he had to step up his game if he wanted to continue to play in the NHL. Since being traded to the Atlanta Thrashers Recchi has tallied 16 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 17 games. Although he seemed to be barely treading water in Pittsburgh, he is fitting in just fine in Atlanta.
